Don’t Quit!

How many times have you decided to quit? Or as the definition of quit explains, you leave a place permanently. How many times? I’m sure most people can count on more that one hand how many times you have quit.

The unknown makes it easy to quit, especially if you are having to trust in a process that is new to you. People say it is easy to quit but for me it is not that easy. Anything I do I tend to go hard at it. I may even over do it sometimes but when I make up my mind to start I go hard. So, quitting for me is a challenge.

If I quit it really does not sit well with me. One, I don’t like feeling defeated. Two, I don’t like wasting my time. Three, I don’t like anyone seeing me fail. Four, I don’t like having to reset because I didn’t follow through. There are so many reason why I don’t like the feeling of quitting but the main reason is I don’t like letting myself down again.

It takes a lot of courage to start a new venture in my life. The process of pumping myself up and trusting in the unknown comes from a place inside of me that can feel a bit intimidated. I literally have to overcome fear to start new things. So, quitting for me hits different. It is a big let down.

So, when you think about quitting next time please think about how you started. Find that spark again. Search yourself and ask yourself why did I start this new venture in the first place. Find that place of confidence again that pushed you forward. What made you jump before? Can that place make you hop back in and double dutch again?

Have you ever seen kids play double dutch? As a child double dutch was one of the hardest task for me and many other little girls. Simply because you have to jump in at the right time and catch the right rhythm to keep going. At any moment you can jump incorrectly, loose your rhythm and have to start all over again. It takes skill to double dutch. Now think about your new venture in this way. It takes skill and consistency to keep jumping. You gain the skill by continuing to jump. Keep jumping no matter what! Don’t quit!
