As a young child I remember my mother making me trace the alphabet to help with my writing skills. In elementary school I remember learning how to write in manuscript and cursive. The teachers constantly helped us become strong writers.
Learning to write was a process. As I progressed in school my writing skills improved. I learned more about writing styles, authors and unique ways to express myself. I eventually grew a love for writing and it became my outlet.
I would grab a pen and write like my life depended on it. I had so many thoughts in my head as a child and writing allowed me to get it out. There were so many thoughts I felt like I could not share during my childhood. So, writing poetry, songs and journaling freed me.
I desired to write daily and it was so easy for me when I was younger. Now I have to retrain myself to write everyday. I have to be intentional about it.
Life is fast paced and busy. Finding the time to write is so beneficial. Even if you don’t enjoy writing I encourage you to allow writing to help you release. Write about the good, the bad and the ugly.
Writing changed my life. There is freedom in the pen.
