This is year three celebrating our son’s journey. We started this tradition three years ago and it has brought us so much joy!
Each year we are surrounded by families full of hope and love for their children. I believe that God aligns families on this journey for several reasons.
I will share with you that I still do not get it all but I have learned to embrace it. While all families encounter different journeys we all have the same goal. We want to see our child happy.
The feeling of knowing my son is having a joyful day makes life worth living. The image of his day may look different but I find rest in his happiness.
Each day I look for a win. It may seem small to the outside world but to me it is great! A win for me today was seeing my son walk the entire Autism Speaks Walk on his own without using our wagon. He did it!
What a huge win! We even did the trail walk twice! Typically we use the wagon to support eloping and SIB behavior if our son has moments. So, today he walked the trail on his on with minimal support and he enjoyed himself.
He was surrounded by family and friends that support his journey and believe in him. It was a magical moment that stamped my heart for a lifetime.
We are so grateful for our community. Seeing other families today showed us that we can! Our son can! Also, others around us can too!
Community…
