One of my favorite shows is called “The Voice” I am the person yelling from the sofa at the screen saying “sang” 🗣️
I got the courage one year to audition for The Voice. It was an amazing experience. There were so many people in one room with hopes and dreams. I was happy I had the courage to be in the room!
Once I got into my audition I was placed in the room with a group of singers. We all had to sing our song in front of each other and the judges decided who would go to the next round.
Once I sang the other singers were amazed at my voice. No one in the room was picked to go to the next round. When I left out some of the singers said to me, “they should have picked you, you were so good”
Those words were powerful but the reality is I should have chose me. I didn’t prepare like I should have, I practiced a little but not a lot. I didn’t take it serious enough. I relied on natural talent but did not put the work in.
I believe a lot of us do this in life. We rely on old skills and don’t continue to sharpen them. Yes, we are given gifts from God but we have to practice. We have to prepare. We must allow the gift to be cultivated.
So, yes the opportunity to audition for The Voice was amazing and I am proud I took the big step. What I know now is taking a step is huge but putting the work in is even bigger.
I encourage you to work on your craft, practice and give it back to God. You have to trust the process and don’t give up on the call on your life. Keep working at it. Even if it is something small each day, work at it.
So what you can sing…
